Real Estate Diversity PAC

October 9, 2019

Dear Friends:

On October 8, 2019, I, Thomas Lopez-Pierre established The Real Estate Diversity PAC: A Political Action Committee Advocating for Racial and Gender Diversity within the Commercial Real Estate Industry in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The Real Estate Diversity PAC [a 501(c)(4) political action committee] will raise money to launch grassroots-boots-on-the-ground-direct action protests at the corporate offices, homes and houses of worship of those corporate leaders within the commercial real estate industry that have a proven track record of failing to embrace racial and gender diversity, equity and inclusion.

In addition, The Real Estate Diversity PAC will also utilize targeted online social media campaigns.

Curbed: On Race & Architecture.

I am pleased to announce that a number of Black and Hispanic property owners have agreed to start this campaign off with a pledge of $25,000 in contributions.

NOTE: 501(c)(4) political action committees are NOT required to disclose the names and addresses of their donors on IRS tax documents.

The Real Deal: Real estate's diversity problem.

A Political Action Committee that Advocates for Racial and Gender Diversity within the Commercial Real Estate Industry.

Shimon Shkuy, President/CEO of Ariel Property Advisors will be the first corporate real estate leader to be targeted by The Real Estate Diversity PAC.

Ariel Property Advisors earns millions of dollars (on the market and closed transactions) in the Black and Hispanic community and out of 38 real estate professionals - NOT one is Black and/or Hispanic and ONLY three (3) are women.

One of our strategies will be to play the BAD COP vs. GOOD COP: The idea is that corporate friendly groups like REAP - the Real Estate Associate Program and CREW Network will continue to play the GOOD COP and The Real Estate Diversity PAC will play the BAD COP.

Our plan is to:

1 - "Help" motivate with "direct action" commercial real estate companies with their lack of racial and gender diversity, equity and inclusion in their hiring and leadership;

2 - "Help" motivate with "direct action" real estate event producers, like: NYC Network Group, Bisnow, GreenPearl, CREtech, CapRate Events, ALM Events, etc. and the companies that sponsor their events with their lack of racial and gender diversity, equity and inclusion of panel speakers at their conferences;

3 - Host campaign fundraisers for political candidates/elected officials that support diversity, equity and inclusion within the commercial real estate industry.

By working together with our White male allies, we can increase the participation of Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Women working in the commercial real estate industry.

The time is now to put the spot light on the real estate industry with regard to the lack of diversity, equity and inclusion in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut!
